This was because this inspection was part of a themed inspection programme to assess whether older people living in care homes are treated with dignity and respect and whether their nutritional needs are met. We looked at four care records which confirmed people’s mental capacity status had been assessed by the registered manager prior to the person receiving care. There was signed consent for information about the person’s health to be shared with third parties, for example, their GP or other healthcare professionals in an emergency.
